Gary Talks Physical Media: Troma Film's Surf Nazis Must Die 4K

On this episode of GARY TALKS PHYSICAL MEDIA, I'm heading back to the wonderfully outrageous world of Troma Entertainment to revisit one of the most notorious cult movies of the 1980s: SURF NAZIS MUST DIE (1987)!

And this time, we're celebrating the film's new 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray release!

Directed by Peter George and released by Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz's Troma Entertainment, SURF NAZIS MUST DIE is a post-apocalyptic action thriller that combines beach culture, punk rock attitude, exploitation cinema, and the kind of gloriously excessive filmmaking that made Troma a legendary name in underground movies.

The premise?

After a devastating earthquake leaves the California coastline in chaos, violent gangs take control of the beaches. Among them is a group of neo-Nazi surfers who terrorize the remaining population and battle rival gangs for control of the coast.

But when their reign of terror results in the death of an innocent young man, they make one very serious mistake.

They underestimate his mother!

Enter Eleanor "Mama" Washington, played by Gail Neely, a grieving mother who decides to take justice into her own hands. And what follows is a wild collision of revenge cinema, dystopian action, surf culture, and outrageous 1980s exploitation filmmaking.

Yes, this is an actual movie. And yes, it's every bit as bizarre as the title suggests!

Originally released in 1987, SURF NAZIS MUST DIE became one of Troma's most recognizable cult titles, finding an audience among fans of underground cinema, midnight movies, and the VHS-era oddities that mainstream Hollywood wouldn't dare touch.

Now, nearly four decades later, the film is making the leap to 4K Ultra HD, complete with eye-catching collectible artwork featuring a chrome skull, crossed blades, and a blazing California sunset.

But does this notorious cult favorite still deliver?

And does it deserve a place in your 4K collection?

From The Toxic Avenger to Class of Nuke 'Em High, Troma Entertainment has spent decades celebrating movies that are strange, shocking, politically irreverent, and proudly outside the Hollywood mainstream.

SURF NAZIS MUST DIE is another unforgettable entry in that tradition.

Whether you're a longtime Troma fanatic, a collector of obscure 1980s exploitation films, or someone who simply enjoys discovering the strangest movies ever committed to celluloid, this is one beach trip you won't soon forget!

NOW I WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!
